A Lookback and the Student Blogging Challenge

The student blogging challenge was fun at times, and sometimes stressful at others. The last one, coding, I put off until a late date becuase being brutally honest I wasn’t fully interested in it. I swallowed my heartlessness and still did the challenge and had some fun poking around website coding. The science challenge a few weeks back also didn’t fully captivate me, as I’m pretty hard to draw in with things I don’t take daily pleasure in doing. Needless to say, I didn’t NOT have fun, but I feel if I could have shaped it more around what I’m interested in I could have had more fun. Well, it’s now the time to say farewell to these blogging challenges, and It was a fun run!😉

The Coding Experience

My experience in coding was actually pretty fun. After admittedly getting bored trying to fully figure it out, I went to familiar websites and changed the code to them. The results were actually quiet funny, and I changed what they said, deleted and texts, and put references to some of the games I play. Mostly I just played around and experimented around with the coding.

Family Celebrations

Every year me and my family go to Corning Arkansas for Christmas at the Park, which is something my aunts run. The day we go they also have Thanksgiving at home, which is a treat becuase I love to eat and Thanksgiving food is my favorite. The Christmas at the Park is an event where they have people get on a stage and sting Christmas Carol’s, but the main attraction is the lights, which they turn on at 6 PM. They decorate the entire parks with lights, and they light the entire park. They take about 1-1 and a half months to set up, and is really a sight to see!

Word of the Year

The Oxford Dictionaries‘ Word of the YearSounds Made Up, But It’s Not. The Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year 2017 is “youthquake.” Youthquake is a noun defined as “a significant cultural, political, or social change arising from the actions or influence of young people

Youthquake is a word I have never even heard of, but it’s real! It means the change brought by young people, and the world has changed a lot in the recent years!

What I’m Curious About

A thing I’ve always been interested in is how consoles work. I love learning about technology and how it works, and I love gaming, so it was a double win scenario. Consoles are interesting pieces of technology and they work in unique ways, from the old Nintendo to our modern Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo Switch. They all use rom based discs or cartridges. Carts and discs contain ROM (read only memory) files that the system can read and interpret. Old Nintendo games are very small, ranging in the KB (kilobyte) sizes. The original Super Mario is only 8kb, and if you don’t know how small that is, here’s an example. When you take a screenshot on your phone, it generally takes up 32-80kb, that’s nearly 5-8 times the size of a FULL game. Games nowadays can typically range from 6-500gb (gigabytes). On GB is 1000MB (megabytes) and 1MB is 1000kb. That’s ridiculous how far we’ve come!

My Favorite Music

Everyone has a favorite type of music, but I’m not part of everyone. I listen to all music, basically whatever someone is currently playing over a car radio or in class I don’t really care. A music type I hate though is classical music, it irritates me to no end!

Book Review

Ok, I’m going to be bluntly honest. I haven’t sat down and read a book in almost 2 and a half years, but the books I remember reading is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books when I was younger. They were pretty entertaining from what I remembered. I read all of them as a kid, but once I grew up I stopped reading them. I would recommend it for any younger kids definitely, but maybe not for older teenagers.
