Jump kicking is a useful technique in SM64 speedrunning. What it’s useful for is climbing up hills that can’t normally be climbed by other means. It’s also a much quicker tactic than framewalking, which I will cover in a future post. There aren’t many places in game that have hills worth doing this trick on, but for the courses it is possible on its a worthwhile trick to try. It’s extremely simple and easy to execute, meaning it takes nearly no practice. However, on certain hills timing is different than normal.
